Frames...

Hey all, this is Ashwin. If you're a regular reader of all the little nooks and crannies of this site , you've probably noticed how much Stephen says I hate frames. And I do. It's just an artistic decision that I find repulsive. And this little page is a short explanation why.

The big problem I have with the whole frames thing is that each part of the page exists separately, yet I see them all simultaneously. Stephen tells me this is the point, but having the menu that's no doubt over to the left sit there while I scroll through an immense page of text is something that deeply annoys me. A pet peeve, if you will. Just like said phrase. Maybe I'm just überpicky, but I find it easier to just go with a table than this frame business.

Another problem, much smaller, that I have with frames is it means I can't directly go to a specific page without losing the menu . It would be easier and more convenient to have the menu in a table cell, and have the body of the page in a adjacent cell. The effect is similar, but then I can go directly to faq.html or whatever without losing the menu.

My little hatred of frames started up when Stephen made this here page and I saw it...something did not look right to me. Said thing was the frames. At least the clouds are on the left now. That makes it look better. And it most definitely beats his original page...he should have that in the Archives thing on his site.
