Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
As you've all probably seen already (if not, look at the Main page), my brother will be changing his domain name soon, which means that I will have no choice but to do so as well. As I see it, I have four options at this point:
- I could just drop the whole having-a-website thing. I don't really know how many people visit my site, but I'm quite confident that no one would care if it happened to disappear. However, if only for selfish reasons, I kind of want to keep my page in existence.
- I could move with Andy to his new domain and continue to mooch (stephen.meltediceguy.com maybe doesn't quite have the same ring as stephen.sanddemon.com, but what the hell). This one would be the easiest to accomplish, since it wouldn't require actually doing anything.
- I could take Andy's advice and get my page its own domain. This would probably pay off in the long run, since he's right: I do someday want to have my own. However, this is the only one of these four options that requires money. Relatively small amounts of money, but money all the same. It would also take a little bit of thinking to figure out all the things I need to figure out to do whatever it is I need to do in order to make this happen. Also, most terribly, I have to actually think one up.
- I could defer decision and temporarily put my site on one of those free webhosting services like Yahoo or Angelfire. In this event, my URL would probably end up being www.something.com/myname. Not quite as elegant as www.myname.com or even stephen.andysname.com.
So those are my choices. I'll choose one of them eventually.
Edit: I've made my decision! Now I have to carry it out.
I've decided to go with Option 3. Now all I need to do is find the capital, put it out, choose a name, set it all up, and inform all of you of my decision. Heh. I say "all of you" as if there's more than one.
Edit: I've taken the next step! I've chosen a domain name!
I've decided (almost completely) on threepistolnun.com, at Aswhin's recommendation. It's an anagram of my name, which is awesome. Expect my site to show up there...er...eventually.
