2005 Updates Archive

This file contains every update added to the update page during the year 2005. I'm sure they're all fascinating.

October 11, 2005

• Added photographs from the various things I've been doing in the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy them.
• Also made a pathetic news post.
• Also added some more pictures to the Nature section of the photos. I promise this won't be just a photo repository from now on...I just need time to write stuff.

• Added six photos from a physics demonstration to the People and Things section. That lightning bolt I promised below is coming soon.

September 22, 2005

• I added the nifty new image at the bottom of the menu. I've also added it to stylistically and thematically appropriate places throughout the site.
• Also added another category to the Photos section: People and Things. There's a slightly more specific description in the Photos index. Hopefully I'll eventually sort all the loose photos into their respective categories. Don't hold your breath.
• Changed the name of the Wildlife section to Nature, because I want to put more than just wildlife on it. I put a lightning bolt in it now.
• Added a bunch of photos to go along with these changes.
• Made a news post.

September 3, 2005

• I'm at college, so I figured the site could use an update of some sort. This is that update, and it will be massive.
• Added the brand-new Stephen Goes To College page. Read it. Love it.
• Added a ton of college photos.
• Added a place to put wildlife photos, and started it off with three.
• Moderately edited the Rhodes page. On account of I'm here now. If you've read it before, skip down to the heading "Theatre".
• Started the About Me page nearly from scratch, saving only a few paragraphs at the top and the paragraph about the Rubik's cube. Because so many things about me are different now.
• Updated the Contact Me page, including a direct link to my Facebook for people who aren't in college.
• Added the Flying Spaghetti Monsterism link to the Links page.
• Changed much of what About This Site said, but only boring things like changing my text editor and admitting that there will never be any more Flash animation on the site.
• Edited the mainpage to be more friendly to new visitors.
• Edited the page about Frances and simultaneously moved it to the Archives.

July 15, 2005

• Didn't want to bump two days ago's news off the news box, but I did need to add a piece of breaking news.
• And I fixed a thingie with the third page of my Kansas article. Almost none of the pictures were embedded properly, but now they are.
• Also, Andy told me where my server is, so I incorporated that into the About This Site page.

• Because Andy is a Linux God, he fixed all my date stamps. So if you're trying to figure out what I meant when I wrote that, it's been resolved.
• I also fixed a few glitches of the type that inevitably arise when I make a large update. I don't feel like catalouging them all here.

July 12, 2005

• All right. Big update here.
• First of all, if you've been watching the "Last Updated" markers at the bottom of each page, you noticed that they've all reset to 07.10.2005. This is an unfortunate indirect result of the fact that a different server now hosts threepistolnun.com.
• Because Andy is moving somewhere without internet, the Raleigh-based server that lived with him is no longer feasible as a hosting option. As a replacement, I'm now being hosted by the good folks at powweb. It's great stuff, really.
• However, none of that has much to do with site content. I have, however, added some content. Foremost is the addition of the Kansas 2005 pages, in summary of my trip to Kansas. They are illustrated with pretty photographs.
• Added five flowers to the Flowers section. I also added captions to all 24 of them.
• Cleaned up the menu; it was getting cluttered. Now that I have a digital camera, I also made a direct link on the menu to the Photos section.
• Made factual changes on About This Site.
• There's a new newspost, I'm sure.

• So far, I've only added a news post. Usually that isn't enough to merit a post on the Updates page, but it may just be today. Unless there's some other update I could make around here...
• Okay. I've posted a bunch of Flowers in the photos section. Check it out.
• I've also reinstated the Suzannah Is Awesome page.

June 2, 2005

• Now that Metamorphoses is over, I have time to actually write things on my website. The first of these is a write-up of the play itself.
• Also made little updates to the Theatre page and to My Theatrical Resumé.
• I also added photographs of my car to her page and to the photo album. Soon there will be more photos, as I am getting a digital camera.
• I also made a news post on the Main Page. Go back and read it right now if you haven't already. It might concern you. By which I mean pertain to you.
• I also made a drastic update (more of a revision, really) to the style sheet. The color scheme is as close as I can get it to what it was before the big switch to dark on light. I'm happy to have it back; I like bright things, but I like my website to be darker. And purpler.

May 10, 2005

• Made a long-overdue news post on the mainpage.
• Moved my page on Frances back from the Archives due to a new development within its text. Installment 2 is new.
• Wrote a big article about my new college, Rhodes College.
• That was quite enough for today. The date stamps, of course, will disagree with my assertion that it is still May 10, but I stand by my story.
• Added both of the above-mentioned articles to the menu and removed On the Verge.
• Factual changes on My Theatrical Resumé.
• There's more to do, but it's late and I need sleep.

• Made what I hope is the final update to My College Page.
• Made tiny factual changes on both the mainpage and on the About This Site article. (I use EditPad Pro, not Notepad, to edit this, and the spiral is no longer my buddy icon.)

• Added time information and a new title image for Metamorphoses.

April 4, 2005

• Updated the college descriptions for almost all colleges in My College Page. Anything below the words "Update as of April 4" is new.
• Made a news post.

April 2, 2005

• All the letters are in from colleges (read: I got a letter from Kenyon today), and I updated My College Page as a result. I also removed the deadline column from the table, since that information hasn't been very relevant since about February 20.

April 1, 2005

• Updated the College page based upon new information from Reed and Kenyon. Well, really no new information from Kenyon, but I've nevertheless documented here the absence of new information where new information should have been received. If that makes sense. Either way, no longer do I have such a flawless college-acceptance record.

March 26, 2005

• Got reminded why it killed me to disable the Guestbook when I got a killer feedback email for the Desert Rose video from Brennan. I may choose a different way of posting such feedback in the future, but for now they're going to be listed in the guestbook; I've copied the text over in full. Thanks, Brennan!

March 24, 2005

• Changed the color scheme on the news box on the mainpage, because everyone was complaining about it.
• Literally. Everyone.
• Uploaded a new title image for the page about Metamorphoses.
• Tweaked the style sheet even more, but you shouldn't notice.
• Since July 28, 2004 at the very latest, the main page has included the following statement concerning the About Me page: "It no longer contains a picture of me, because I don't like looking at myself without hair. Someday soon I'll put up a new one, where I do have hair. Don't hold your breath, though." I removed that statement from the main page, because I added the image.
• It's also in the Photos Section.
• Made factual changes where necessary in the About Me page, and reworded things so that they fit my life better now. Notable additions include the link to My College Page.
• It has arrived at last: The Music Video. Go to the all new Videos section to view it in streaming 256×192 glory.
• I made a lot of peripheral changes relating to the music video:
• Linked to the newly-created Videos section through both the Gallery and the School Assignments pages.
• Added the newly-created Videos section to the menu (under Current Articles, because it eventually will only be accessible through the gallery). Also took the They Might Be Giants show off of the menu and put it into the Archives.
• Made a news post.

March 19, 2005

• I made the decision to disable the guestbook script after receiving more than a dozen guestbook entries promoting one of the following:
1. Porn/Sex
2. Mortgages
3. Low-cost prescription medications
And not a single entry of worth from someone who had looked at the site and wanted to make a shout-out. Not wanting to become a billboard for filth and advertising, I've made the guestbook read-only until further notice. See the page for more information.
• To reflect this change, I've altered the Contact page.

March 16, 2005

• New color scheme!!!
• That's all.
• But now that I have a light background, marvel at the beautiful PNG-format images on the play pages. Unless you have Internet Explorer. Then you won't see the beauty of my PNGs.

• A long-necessary change: updated On the Verge.
• Updated My Theatrical Resumé.
• Added theatre pages for The Secret Garden and Metamorphoses.
• Added a news post.
• Fixed a glitch in the Guestbook.
• Changed the menu around.

February 28, 2005

• Once more updated the College page to reflect a change in my status at Rhodes. So I'm still waiting to hear back from two schools: Kenyon and Reed.

• Updated the College page to reflect recent decisions I've made about my applications to Guilford and UNCA.

• Added On the Verge to the current articles at the bottom of the menu.

• I am moving toward posting at least one video I made in Videography class on here. Check back at random intervals.
• For today, though, I simply changed some picky things on My Theatrical Resumé. A missing period here, a missing link there, shows out of sequence, that kind of thing. It's better now, but you shouldn't notice.
• At some point I'm thinking of instituting a new color scheme, too.
• Sorry for all the "at some point I'll..." entries in this list today. I'll try to keep it to "I did this" from now on.

February 4, 2005

• First, added a Y to the end of Januar in the update record immediately preceding this one.
• Updated My College Page to reflect yet another change in status.
• Added Much Ado About Nothing to the Theatre section.
• Updated On the Verge with correct date information (I guess I subliminally typed 2004 when I meant 2005) and another entry in my stage managing journal.
• It's become a daily ritual to remove spam from my guestbook. I've only gotten one legitimate guestbook entry since it was re-enabled. Anyway, I'm not going to post updates when I do that.

January 29, 2005

• Slightly altered my college page to reflect a change in the status of UNCG for me.
• Altered Why Threepistolnun? to reflect the unavailability of the file /anagram.txt.
• Closed a pesky italics tag in All in the Timing, so that only part is italicized.

January 25, 2005

• Removed the "guestbook broken" message and hit myself on the head because it was just some simple file permissions I had to change. Sheesh.
• Removed spam (3 units) and a test entry from the newly-reenabled guestbook.

January 24, 2005

• Added a warning that the guestbook doesn't work to the add comments form. I think the problem will be resolved shortly. Thanks for your patience.

January 20, 2005

• Made tiny modifications to all the pages about plays in the Theatre section.
• Added a page about Nunsense.
• Added a retrospective to my page on Pirates of Penzance.
• Updated the College page to reflect a change in my Emory & Henry status.

January 18, 2005

• This shouldn't count as an update, but I think it does. I added a few lines to On the Verge to reflect the first day of rehearsal. I won't be keeping a daily rehearsal log, but I will probably mark significant points along the rehearsal process.

• Updated the On the Verge page.
• Altered the organization of the Theatre page.

January 16, 2005

• All weekend I've been updating My College Page as I've completed applications.
• This evening I posted a news item.
• In order to make the updates document smaller, I've split it into three: this document, a document containing 2004 Updates, and a document containing 2003 Updates. This should speed up the transfer of this document, especially for anyone on dialup. I'm such a genius. Anyway, there's a couple of handy navigation links at the bottom of every update page, and the other update pages are also listed in the Archives.

• Updated My College Page to reflect changes in application status.
• Added a news post.

January 11, 2005

• Added Timeline of My Life to the archives. It's from ninth grade, and it's actually fairly well-written. I had a way with words back then.
• Added a PNG title for On the Verge.
• I also added content to the On the Verge page itself.
• Finally, I added a nifty favicon to the page. It's from Ashwin's masterful flash animation that all of you have no doubt seen by this time.
• Oh, and I also restricted access to anagram.txt, the file which showed all the possible combinations of my name. It was being accessed far more than any human being possibly could, and I didn't think it healthy, so I changed the file permissions. Someday I'll clean up the Why Threepistolnun? article to reflect this.

• Moved CYT up into the Plays section of My Theatrical Resumé.
• Added a page about the colleges I'm considering, and what I think of them. Also added it to the menu.
• Added a news post. But you probably knew that.
