Cartoon Stephen
Ever since I took this picture of myself in Blount 205 on September 17, 2005 at 10:20 PM, it's been one of my favorite photographs of myself. Sure, you can't see my hair or ears or body, but that slightly ridiculous smile combined with my rosy cheeks and mischievous eyes are the parts of me that I most want to project to others. For this reason, it has been my Facebook picture on and off from that time on. In the time between jobs during the summer of 2006, I downloaded Inkscape, a free drawing program that produces vector graphics. I tinkered with it, studying graphics I found online, and near the end of the summer, I decided to make a cartoon version of this photo. The result is below. 
I began by tracing the edges of my facial features and the shadows on my face, from my nose and lips to my stubble. Then I added color and a pretty blue background. I'm real happy with the result. If you'd like to take a look at the final SVG and maybe tinker a little, feel free to do so. You may need Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, or another vector graphics program to open it.
