Chamber Choir

I wrote this song starting in April 2004, when I first found out that I was one of the juniors appointed to say farewell to the seniors at the chorus concert. I wanted to give them a good send-off, and so I started playing around with ideas for the song. It started off sentimental, then went funny, and then I jammed the two together to make a massive song that was both.

Included below are the piano chords (above the lyrics), as well as the lyrics themselves.

If you came for an mp3, I have one for you. Fortunately, I'm slightly more satisfied with it than with my recording of Paul Sucks. However, being honest with myself, I can't say I'm totally satisfied with this one either. But at least I hit the right pitches for some of the notes. And the piano generally lines up with the vocals. (I had to record them separately, so I wasn't able to just do it naturally.) Anyway. Without further ado, here's the file.

D C
Chamber Choir, you rock my world
  G F
I don't think I could live without you
D C
Now and then, I look back
   G F
On all the times we've had together:
D C
Good times and bad times,
G F
Happy times and sad times,

D C
Sitting on the lawn outside;
 G F
"No, you're not allowed to do that!"
D
"Why the hell not?"
      C
"Some dumbass rule;
G F
You can ignore it if you want to."

D C
Goin' to see Return of the King
G F
Will Frodo destroy the Ring?
   D C
We might find out if Paul would shut up
G F
But he won't and so I'm stuck.

D C
Singin' happy birthday to everyone
G F
"Where's my pitch pipe?" "I don't know!"
       D C
"Who's got the solo?" "I think it's you."
    G F
"It doesn't matter, they're taking a test anyway..."

Bridge:
D C G F
Drivin' to Chicago with the other ensembles,
D C G F
Gettin' less sleep than I thought I would,
    D C G F
The planetarium might as well be a hotel,
       D C G F D
'Cause everybody's sleeping through the IMAX film!

D C G F

(slower)
D C
Chamber Choir seniors are cool.
  G F
I can't believe I have to fill their shoes.

D C
Shannon, Jesse, Pablo, Ryan,
G F
Suzannah, Leah,
D C
Brynne and Jason, Allison,
    G G F
And how can I forget...

Am G
Oh, Paul!
G G G C n/c
Why will I miss you?
            G D/F#
Well you're funny and you're cool
    Em G
And you're an awesome singer
    G D/F#
You hug me when I'm sad
      Em G
And attack me when I'm happy
       G D/F#
You're warm and you're kind
    Em G D/F# C/E
And everyone likes you-oo - oo.

|: C C D D :|

            G D/F#
'Cause Paul rocks, yes he rocks,
       Em G
Yes he really really rocks,
   G D/F#
He vandalized my music,
    Em G
But I forgive him for it;
  G D/F#
I don't know what I'll do
    Em G D/F# C/E
Without my good friend Pau-au - aul.

          G Em
I once pretended to hate Paul,
       G C
But he knows I don't at all.
     G Em
I suppose we've made amends,
    C Bm Am G Em G G
But I will sorely miss my friend.
