Copyright Information for Photographs

I believe that you should be able to use cool photographs you find on my site. I'm actually really excited when people like my photos enough to use them. However, I also realize that many of my photographs are of people I know, and it might be disconcerting for them to find their image used in places they don't expect. For these reasons, I've decided to retain the copyright on those of my photos that include people. In other words:

• Photos that do not contain people, I hereby release into the public domain and grant permission to use them or modify them for any reason, without restriction. If you want to give me credit or drop me a line when you do so, I'd be overjoyed, but there's no reason I see to require that. If you want to use a full-resolution original (to print, for example), drop me an e-mail and I'll get it to you. The only reason I don't put them online in the first place is to save you download time and me server space.
• Photos that do contain people are copyright Stephen Rintoul. If you ever want to use them for any reason, I will, almost without a doubt, grant you permission to do so, but you should ask just to make sure. Exception: if one of the people in one of my photographs is you, with or without other people, I grant permission to use that photograph for anything, and no need to ask me. Again, if you want a full-resolution copy, e-mail me.
