ByuiooByuioo was a curious mixture of things. Nate Weida wrote and directed it, and it was a beautiful story. It was presented as a one-act musical, the second act of the evening, preceded by a live variety show featuring many of the cast in their various talents. That part wasn't very interesting. My mother, when she came to see the play, was on the verge of leaving after the first act. She was, however, convinced by the Audio Technician to remain. The lasting legacy of Byuioo is that they took a lot of Hanes equipment with them when they loaded out. We're missing cables, we're missing our largest strobe light, and we have a bunch of color that we can't use because it's not Roscolux® standard. However, the play was more interesting. It was written entirely in gibberish, and thus had a somewhat unintelligible plot. However, it chiefly involved a green monster guy (named Mogo) who worked in a circus. I actually don't know too much more about it. It was very good, though, mostly because of its music. The show gave me my first experience with automated lighting. The lighting designer brought in two rented trackspots and ran DMX to them, using them as specials. Because he was able to use the same fixtures for many different specials, he was able to severely cut down on the number of fixtures he needed. Other than that, there isn't much to say about Byuioo. Original DocumentI was recently recruited to work as a technician for a musical production called Byuioo, which was written by a former Chapel Hill High School student who actually graduated at the same time as my brother Andy. I'm definitely not the definitive source of information about the play. For that go to Byuioo.com. My duty within the show is to provide illumination in the form of operating a follow spotlight. It's good stuff, but sometimes difficult. We're (my fellow spotlight operator and myself) getting it, little by little. Anyway, try to come see it if you're interested. Comprehensive ticket information is available at the official Byuioo site; I'm not going to try to make any sense of it here. I'd inevitably get it wrong, and then people would be mad, and it would just be a bad situation. Much better to tell you to go see Byuioo.com. So do that. It's over now. Unfortunately, we were only able to do two shows, but Mom and Andy enjoyed it a lot. I felt that it was a very strong show. I was proud of our work on it.
