Real Rhodes

Real Rhodes is a show performed as part of Orientation at Rhodes every year. It's a clone of a Real World-style reality TV show. The characters are somewhat stereotypical, and designed to explore the kind of transitional issues that new students might face at Rhodes, from living with roommates to alcohol use to sexual assault. Remarkably, it manages to walk the line between informative and preachy, and between cheesy and funny. It's a good script, and Liz McClure did a great job directing it. Because I didn't have any time at all to throw it together, I used the instrumentation left over from Ubu Roi the previous spring. I cued it in the wee hours of the morning between RA Training sessions. Needless to say, where my memories of Real Rhodes still exist, they are not particularly positive, but it was still a good show.
